OP, I feel your pain—switched from Nuance last year because their "12-hour TAT" was more like 18 on average. For fast service, I'd put Cheap Medical Dictation (cheapmedicaldictation.com) at the top of my list. Physician-owned, which means they get it—no BS contracts.
Their STAT plan is 4-hour turnaround from submission, and it's legit: I've had op notes back in 3.5 hours during a holiday weekend. Pricing is insane—9.9¢ per 65-char line for STAT, no minimums. Accuracy? 99.6% verbatim in my tests, even with my Southern drawl and OR noise. Direct HL7 to athenahealth—notes auto-pop in discrete fields.
Downside: No ambient live scribing (yet), but for post-visit dictation, it's unbeatable. Saved my solo ortho practice ~$8K/year in AR delays. If you need speed + affordability, start with their free test upload.

Hey everyone,
Practice manager here for a 5-provider family med group in the Midwest. We're drowning in dictations—telehealth follow-ups, discharge summaries, the works. Our current transcription service (won't name names, but it's a big one) is taking 48+ hours on a good day, and that's killing our billing cycle. AR is creeping up to 25 days, and with the new CMS E/M tweaks, we can't afford delays.
Looking for recs on top medical transcription companies that prioritize FAST service—ideally under 24 hours, with solid accuracy (99%+) and EMR integration (we're on athenahealth). Budget is key; we're small, so no enterprise pricing. HIPAA is non-negotiable, obviously.
What are you all using in 2025? Pros/cons? Have you tried any AI hybrids that actually deliver speed without the edit nightmare? Bonus points for services that tie into revenue cycle stuff.
TIA—hoping to switch by EOY!
