Hi tcfd1vldg!

Great question. Based on what you're describing, here are some possible coding options for you:

K08.491 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, class I
K08.492 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, class II
K08.493 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, class III
K08.494 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, class IV
K08.499 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, unspecified class
K06.3 - Horizontal alveolar bone loss
K08.21 - Minimal atrophy of the mandible
K08.22 - Moderate atrophy of the mandible
K08.23 - Severe atrophy of the mandible

A narrative report describing the loss of the teeth through the procedure to remove the cyst is recommended.

Hope this helps!

Patient had a cyst on lower right, was removed and in the process two of her teeth were lost. We want to replace with a bridge and bill her medical. I've got the 41899 for my procedure code, but at a loss as to which would be the best to use for diagnosis. Do I want bone loss, partial, unspecified? Alveolar bone loss, atrophy of endentulous alveolar ridge? This is a bit more complex than what I have dealt with before.
