Hi SunDental!

The anesthesia codes are “unit” codes per 15 min. The modifier -47 can also be used with a CPT for anesthesia. We have found most insurers prefer this.

Hope this helps!

Is CPT 00170 anesthesia for intraoral procedures
based on a specific length of time? Most anesthesia codes are in pairs
example one code for the first 30 minutes and then another code for
each additional 15 minutes. I can not find guidelines for CPT 00170.

Thank You!
