	Hi Kristen Gauthier! Great question. For Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding, the patient is considered "new" if they have not presented to the practice for the last 3 years. The new patient E&M should be billed for their first visit (99201-99205), and thereafter established E&M codes (99211-99215) unless the patient has a 3 year lapse of presenting. Hope this helps!

	How often can you bill code 99203 for New Patient Consult? If you have an existing patient but they have not been in the office for a couple of years can you bill the 99203 code?
