HI there, can you tell me if these codes (all for work on the same tooth) make sense?
-- The billing is for a crown, where a prior large filling fell out:
D2740 Crown porcelain/ceramic D2950 Core buildup and pins
-- Does one of the above codes cover the root canal done before the core buildup--or should there be a separate code for the root canal?
-- This one below seems to be for a normal filling, is it normally part of a crown procedure?: D2391 Resin Based composite
I would appreciate any assistance!
Thanks so much!

Hi guest!
Here are some diagnosis coding options for the fall and the broken tooth:
W10.8XXA - Fall (on) (from) other stairs and steps, initial encounter S02.5XXA - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for closed fracture S02.5XXB - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for open fracture K03.81 - Cracked tooth
As for the procedure code for the crown:
Those procedures do not have direct crosscodes we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can try the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure: 41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures
Hope this helps!

Stephanie, If you provide me with the dental codes I would be happy to crosscode them for you again.

Hi. I asked some questions regarding converting some dental dental codes to medical and you gave me some codes to use. I can't seem to find the feed. I believe it was around March. Please let me know when you can.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Hi! Could I get the diagnostic medical codes for a patient that walked into a pipe and broke a tooth? I also need the medical procedure codes for a root canal, build up, crown and PA. Thanks!
