Use only modifier NU with the sleep orthotic. It is not necessary to use the SC. SC modifier is "medically necessary service or supply". Not all CPT and HCPCS codes require modifiers.

We have just received a rejection for the second time from BCBS for the sleep appliance. They are asking for a modifier. We used modifier NU as well as SC.
