Hi IC!
Great question. No, I still show the current description of 41899 as: Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures
Hope this helps!

41899: I have always considered as an unspecified, i usually ZZ and write the description. I have has EOB's getting to patients as a description of "unspecified surgical procedure" as oppose to unspecified dentoalveolar structures". Does anyone know if the description changed ?

Hi Guest! The rejection response "Rejected for relational field in error. Detailed description of service" is typically seen when the claim contains an NOC ("Not Otherwise Classified") procedure (CPT/HCPCS) code without a description included on the line item of the claim. You may consider adding the "ZZ" qualifier with a description of what service/procedure 41899 is being used to represent on the red shaded line of the line item and submitting the claim. These instructions and examples of what it looks like on the claim can be found in the NUCC claim form manual, starting on page 45-48: http://www.nucc.org/images/stories/PDF/1500_claim_form_instruction_manual_2012_02-v6.pdfHope this helps!

Hi Guest!
We generally do not bill Medicare for 41899 to Medicare, generally only for private insurance. However, i do see 41899 listed on Medicare Part B's fee schedule (jurisdiction H), however of course since it is an "unlisted/unspecified" code, there is not a fee schedule amount attached to it, as it can be used to represent a myriad of different procedures.
41899 stands for: Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

Hi Guest!
We just checked our 2017 CPT book and 41899 is still there. Our medical billers also have been billing this and getting reimbursed.

Insurance Company I am dealing with informed me that CPT Code 41899 was deleted in 2017. Ordered a CPT 2017 Code book and 41899 has been removed. Desperately need help. Please check your 2017 CPT Code book.

Hi Guest!
I don't show that 41899 was deleted from the CPT coding system, and is still in use. Where do you see 41899 as a deleted code?
There is not a specific cross code for D2740 (crown - porcelain/ceramic substrate), and practices I with do use 41899 for it (or, you can bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services).

CPT code 41899 was deleted in 2017. I need a Cpt 2017 code for D2740.
