Hi Jonas Jones,

Medicare DME will not pay for exam and x-rays only for the oral appliance. There is no need to go through changing any of your NPI information. The department that would pay for exam and x-rays if found medical necessary would be Medicare Plan B.

We had a patient come in for a sleep screening. He decided after the exam not to proceed. I sent medicare a claim for the exam and a pan x-ray. They sent it back saying that Box 32 was incorrect. Box 32 has our medicare DME NPI # and address. Box 33 has our dental NPI # and the same address. The claims were made using the dental NPI #. As a dentist can we bill for exams and xrays to Medicare and if not can we use our DME NPI # to do so. Or are we out of luck? Thanks, Jonas Jones
