Hi Guest!

D0220 - intraoral - periapical first radiographic image
can be cross coded to:
70300 - Radiologic examination, teeth; single view

The ICD-10 diagnosis code(s) for these services will depend on the patient's condition and why the services were done.

For example, if the services are being done due to decay, you may use the of ICD-10 diagnosis code(s) below:

K02.3 - Arrested dental caries
K02.51 - Dental caries on pit and fissure surface limited to enamel
K02.52 - Dental caries on pit and fissure surface penetrating into dentin
K02.53 - Dental caries on pit and fissure surface penetrating into pulp
K02.61 - Dental caries on smooth surface limited to enamel
K02.62 - Dental caries on smooth surface penetrating into dentin
K02.63 - Dental caries on smooth surface penetrating into pulp
K02.7 - Dental root caries
K02.9 - Dental caries, unspecified

If it is being done for another reason (i.e. accident, loss of teeth, etc), let me know and I can offer you some coding options.

Hope this helps!

Is there a list of Dental to Medical codes that I can view. Due to an accident, patient had upper anterior extractions(D7140), We also did Radiographs(D0220)- not decay related,
palliative exam (D9110)
Ridge graft (d7953)
as well as fillings on other teeth
D2335, D2332. We will also be doing implants down the road D6010.

Hi Guest!

We do offer our crosscode online software that allows you to search ICD, CPT and CDT codes, view claim examples, and reference sheets for common codes used for sleep, TMD and implants. Here is a link to additional information: https://niermanpm.com/crosscode-online

We also offer our DentalWriter software, which is specifically designed for dental practice who bill medical insurance for medically necessary procedures such as sleep, TMD, and oral surgery services, and the common codes are built right into the exam forms in the software. Here is a link to more information on DentalWriter: https://niermanpm.com/dental-sleep-billing-software
You can schedule a demo here: https://niermanpm.com/demo

As for the codes you listed:

D0220 - intraoral - periapical first radiographic image
can be cross coded to:
70300 - Radiologic examination, teeth; single view

D9110 - palliative (emergency) treatment of dental pain - minor procedure
when not performed in an emergency room setting outside of regularly scheduled hours, can be cross coded to:

99050 — Services provided in the office at time other than regularly scheduled office hours, or days when the office is closed (e.g., holidays Saturday or Sunday), in addition to basic service

Or, if your office does offer regularly scheduled hours during weekends and holidays when the service took place:

99051 — Service(s) provided in the office during regularly scheduled evening, weekend, or holiday office hours, in addition to basic service.

Or, if it was simply during regular office hours:
99058 - Office services provided on an emergency basis

D7953 - bone replacement graft for ridge preservation - per site
Can be cross coded to:
21210 - Graft, bone; nasal, maxillary or malar areas (includes obtaining graft)
21215 - Graft, bone; mandible (includes obtaining graft)
**use modifier -52 for reduced services when bone is not obtained from patient

D6010 - surgical placement of implant body: endosteal implant
can be cross coded to:
21248 - Reconstruction of mandible or maxilla, endosteal implant (eg, blade, cylinder); partial(3or less)
21249 - Reconstruction of mandible or maxilla, endosteal implant (eg, blade, cylinder); complete (4 or more)

D7140 - extraction, erupted tooth or exposed root (elevation and/or forceps removal)
D2335 - resin-based composite - four or more surfaces or involving incisal angle (anterior)
D2332 - resin-based composite - three surfaces, anterior

The codes listed above do not have a direct crosscode we are aware of, so you can either bill the "D" code on the medical claim (many insurers these days will process "D" codes when they are medically necessary services), or you can try the CPT code below and include a narrative report describing the procedure:
41899 - Unlisted procedure, dentoalveolar structures

As for the diagnosis code(s) - those will depend on the nature of the trauma as well as the details of the accident. For example, here are some available oral trauma related ICD-10 codes:

K03.81 - Cracked tooth
S02.5XXA - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for closed fracture
S02.5XXB - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for open fracture
K08.411 - Partial loss of teeth due to trauma, class I
K08.412 - Partial loss of teeth due to trauma, class II
K08.413 - Partial loss of teeth due to trauma, class III
K08.414 - Partial loss of teeth due to trauma, class IV
K08.419 - Partial loss of teeth due to trauma, unspecified class

Now, as far as the code to represent the accident - this is where you need additional details to select the appropriate code. I.e. - was it a fall? a car accident? etc? For example, fall codes are very very specific! Here's some examples below of ICD-10 codes for falling on the same level from slipping, tripping and stumbling:

W01.0XXA - Fall on same level from slipping, tripping and stumbling without subsequent striking against object, initial encounter
W01.10XA - Fall on same level from slipping, tripping and stumbling with subsequent striking against unspecified object, initial encounter
W01.198A - Fall on same level from slipping, tripping and stumbling with subsequent striking against other object, initial encounter
W18.00XA - Striking against unspecified object with subsequent fall, initial encounter
W18.09XA - Striking against other object with subsequent fall, initial encounter
W18.31XA - Fall on same level due to stepping on an object, initial encounter

If you need help with the diagnosis code(s) - if you would like to provide me with additional details I would be happy to offer you some coding options.

Hope this helps!
