Sometimes, the treasure chests are alive. They're known as mimics and are giant assholes if they catch your attention. This wasn't a fake. A mimic that I could take on without difficulty, and yet there was some sort of treasure to look forward to after the battle. However, this was something entirely different. When I opened the chest, I was surrounded by a thick, purple fog. I was also confronted with a message informing me that the teleportation was against my will.

It saw me , and then shot off a series of deadly barbs that decimated my health bar in such a way that another volley the side of the screen was enough to kill me within the blink of an eye. "Well it's over of that," I thought to myself, assuming this death would be similar to my many deaths in Elden Ring and send me back to my previous checkpoint. My heart sank when I found myself in the same location, hearing the familiar sound of miners' bells ringing in the cavern.
