I recently billed medical insurance for patient with root resorption. The patient had extraction, bone graft, implant placement. His medical insurance did pay on claim. We just seated his implant crown. He has a new medical insurance I will be billing. My question is do I use the same ICD 10 codes I used for initial procedure? Specifically the root resorption code(K03.3). These are the codes I used on initial claim:

K08.491
K03.3
K08.22

Are there any other ICD 10 codes I should use?

Thank you
Rose

Hi Rose!

Great question. The codes you listed stand for:

K08.491 - Partial loss of teeth due to other specified cause, class I
K03.3 - Pathological resorption of teeth
K08.22 - Moderate atrophy of the mandible

So, yes all those diagnosis codes do sounds like they may very well apply still. As far as any additional diagnostic codes to use - that of course will depend on the patient's condition and if there is anything new present to report! If not, then that group of codes that was used initially may very well be what you're looking at :)

Hope this helps!
