Our patient is being treated with an orthotic for TMD. She also required a maxillary partial to replace missing teeth and to support her occlusion. How do I code this maxillary partial for medical insurance?

Hi Dr. Sterling: Hope all is well. Generally speaking the partial would come under the dental. Rarely do we see the medical picking up the partials. You can call the insurance company and see. You can try the D code, the only other possibilty would be the 41899.
