Is it legal to bill a different amount for a private pay patient verses someone who has insurance for the same service? Specifically, E0486.

Hi Kim!

We would suggest to confirm this question with your local & state laws, as they can vary from region to region.

However, it is common practice in the medical field to have multiple fee schedules for the same services for different contracted insurance companies, non-contracted insurance companies, and cash pay patients.
