Whether you like it or not, samurai are dominating Elden Ring. They're a solid class with some solid base statistics and equipment that will last until the end of the game if you treat correctly and keep leveling the playing field. The uchigatana is an especially useful weapon for beginners Elden Ring Runes. However, there's another weapon that has a growing fanbase singing its praises moonveil Katana.

The Moonveil looks much like it's akin to Rivers of Blood and uchigatana. This means it's designed like a katana, traditional Japanese-style curved blade and all. The process of getting it right isn't easy, though. You have to take on a gigantic salamander with a sword and fire breath called Magma Wyrm within the depths of Gael Tunnel, located on the border of Limgrave. It's a difficult fight. Magma Wyrm's big, and the circular arena isn't huge, which means that when you try to navigate it is a pain. The camera can also get stuck to your wall, if not cautious, and Magma Wyrm has some attack that can kill you in one strike. It's a way to exercise frustration.

If you are able to put an end to the powerful Magma Wyrm, though you'll earn a dragon heart as well as the coveted Moonveil. And let me be honest, this weapon looks cool in action! It's a magical-based katana that comes with large blood loss buildup, and a solid damage output that scales in Dexterity, Intelligence and strength. What makes it so desired is its weapon ability that is transient Moonlight. Like the uchigatana's weapon skill that is, holding on the shoulder's left button, it encases the blade prior to the quick attack however, on top of the devastating physical strike, drawing drawing the Moonveil Katana can also unleash a blue projectile wave. This will give the Tarnished the ability to be a melee weapon which can be used to attack from a distance.

Transient Moonlight is the reason that makes the Moonveil deadly. Even after FromSoftware stealthily nerfed it in a recent patch, the katana still quickly builds up the blood loss status effect, hits hard when upgraded, and shoots out a Vergil-from-Devil-May-Cry-style blade wave. In PvE the weapon skill is an ideal way to get a few shots into the game while keeping a distance. It's a blessing. The skill allows you to maintain pressure within close proximity, and lets you interrupt the majority of casting animations at long range.

The experience of being on the receiving end is quite a hassle, especially when there are people on both sides. Many love the Moonveil, that it has helped them fight many bosses and invaders back to back. Others consider it to be broken because players spam Transient Moonlight too often. There are even folks that seem to Elden Ring Items for sale and hate the Moonveil so much, they have named their Tarnished so as to communicate their displeasure towards other users. This is quite extreme.

I get it. A weapon that quickly releases a projectile that is extremely damaging is a nightmare in PvP. However, at the same time being a dedicated catana player, I'm getting the Moonveil. It's a weapon that brings out the otaku inside me as I can play out my fantasies as a ronin like Rurouni Kenshin, or perhaps Elden Ring's own Samurai, his Bloody Finger Hunter Yura, instead of some raggedy stained. Now, if only my ghost dogs and I could take down that damn Magma Wyrm.
