A friend's daughter wrecked on her bicycle and has had to have multiple dental procedures. One doctor's office isn't willing to submit the claim to her medical insurance. We're looking for codes to ask the insurance herself.

Hi Guest!
Many medical insurers will actually accept the "D" code (dental procedure code) when a claim is submitted for accident/trauma. However, if you have a list of the "D" codes from the dental practice, I would be happy to see if there are medical code (CPT code) crosscodes available for them.
You will also need diagnosis codes. Here are some common ones below for trauma:
K03.81 - Cracked tooth S02.5XXA - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for closed fracture S02.5XXB - Fracture of tooth (traumatic), initial encounter for open fracture S03.2XXA - Dislocation of tooth, initial encounter M26.34 - Vertical displacement of fully erupted tooth or teeth M26.33 - Horizontal displacement of fully erupted tooth or teeth
And there are codes to describe the bicycle accident. If you could provide a few more details about how to accident happened, I can provide you with more specific diagnosis coding options for that :) (for example, there is are different codes depending on if the person was driving the bike or riding it, if they ran into a vehicle, another personal, an animal, just fell off, etc).
