We do posture analysis for out TMD patients and I am wondering if there is a billing code for it.

Hi woonmiraman!
Great question. As far as the ICD (diagnosis code) to use - this will greatly depend on the patient's condition and why they presented to you. There is a variety of headache, pain, TMD, and accident codes to choose from based on the patient's situation and condition. DentalWriter CrossCode will let you search the diagnosis codes and their descriptions....for example, you may have a TMD patient with the following diagnosis codes:
524.62 - temporomandibular joint disorders arthralgia of temporomandibular joint E883.0 - accident from diving/jumping in swimming pool
As far as the CPT code (procedure code) for posture analysis - it appears that the CPT code suggested by posture analysis manufacturers is a CPT code that falls under physical therapy and rehabilitation services - 97750- Physical performance test or measurement (eg, musculoskeletal, functional capacity), with written report, each 15 minutes
However, a few medical policies we have seen for this code require it is billed by a licensed physical therapist, so a pre-authorization request for this procedure would be highly recommended before attempting to file a claim with a new insurer.
