In an article on their blog published on its blog, the producer Bandai Namco addressed the problem by writing "We know the source of the issue and are making a patch to fix it. However, until the patch is released you must backup your Elden Ring game, by exiting the game frequently." You are able to do this by pressing"quit" and then the "quit game" option from Elden Ring's menu in the game. This blog also discussed issues with Elden Ring's performance on PC, including framerate hiccups as well as a high-sensitivity mouse and states that there's a patch coming for these issues as well.

Mind you, the blog post does not provide a detailed explanation of the "cause" for the save problems with data on PS5 nor do they provide dates for when a fix is expected to be released. The representatives of Bandai Namco did not respond to a request for comments at the time of publication.

Elden Ring is not the first PS5 game to launch with issues with the console's rest mode. Last spring, Housemarque's Returnal was a constantly challenging game about the talents in the band Blue ?yster Cult was released without a option to stop a run.
